ParticipantThe time jump is like the formula used in "This is Us." We see the present along with the past that led up to current events. This has certainly worked for one of the most popular shows on television. I like it. (Please forgive me if a similar observation has already been posted.)

Participant"This Is Us" is one of my favorite shows on TV, along with "A Million Little Things." I just wish the writers of DOOL were as creative with their SLs as they were on TIU and AMLT. However, as soon as I understood and now follow the Time Jump, I can certainly see the resumblance to the very popular prime-time soap, TIU. I just hope they can have the same success, but I find that hard to believe because we’re comparing a completely different type of acting ability between the actors and the writers on TIU and AMLT compared to the actors and the writing on DOOL. To me, prime time soaps excel far above and beyond daytime soaps. There’s just no comparison. JMO!

ParticipantThey have also used this formula on the Walking Dead. However their time jumps have been several years.

ParticipantThe actors on a once a week show, have a long time to learn their lines. They also get to do retakes if it is t perfect. Soap operas shoot every day and actors literally have a day or night to learn their lines. They also don’t know where their story is headed far enough in advance to know how to play out certain moments. So while the nighttime soap maybe be better acted, if our actors on Days had a whole week or even months to read the script and act it out, we’d definitely have a different show.

Participanttoo bad it doesn’t apply for what to me is lazy writing. I have never been a fan of Carlivati, although I realize a lot of you are. His and his staff’s storylines have me fast-forwarding much more than I would like to on Days.

ParticipantOn How To Get Away With Murder as well. That, like DOOL, has lazy writing as of late LOL

ParticipantThat one of our former head writers was so lazy, that we had at least 30 minutes of flashbacks in every episode. Some of the flashbacks were even scenes we’d just watched in the same episode. Now that’s lazy writing!
